Cristom Mt. Jefferson Cuvee Willamette Valley Pinot in stock!

90 points from Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright medium red. Smoky redcurrant and cherry aromas are complicated by dried rose and spice cake. Deeper dark berry flavors are firmed by silky tannins and become sweeter with air. Shows very good power on the focused dark berry-flavored finish. This is the best version of this bottling I can recall. Winemaker Steve Doerner told me that he used 50% whole clusters across the board in 2008."

2009 Lewis Cellars Chardonnay
Sonoma Russian River Valley

Crafted from some of the oldest Dutton Ranch plantings in the Russian River AVA, our 2009 Sonoma Chardonnay is loaded with character. Similar to the cool weather that prevailed late in the 2008 growing season, the 2009 crop benefitted from long ripening times developing full maturity and well-defined flavors. A citrus menagerie of tangerine, orange rind and lemon cream pie blends with blossoms, honeycomb and floral spice. Loads of ripe citrus fruit are tethered by lively, natural acidity for a brilliant combination of breadth and balance.  Winery Notes  This is a California Wine.

WA 94pts. - According to the Wine Advocate: The 2007 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard offers lots of black raspberry and boysenberry fruit intertwined with a floral undertone. Fleshy, opulent, and even viscous by Pinot Noir standards, this full-bodied, concentrated, velvety 2007 is impossible to resist. It should last for 7-8 years. Sean Capiaux fashions O’Shaughnessy’s outstanding Cabernets from Howell Mountain as well as a half dozen impressive Pinot Noirs at his own estate, Capiaux Cellars. Winemaker Notes - 2007 Pisoni has a deep dark red color with a purple hue. Aromas of wild black raspberries, bittersweet chocolate, plum and roasted herbs wrapped in an intense, concentrated and full bodied wine with well integrated tannins.

2008 Brewer Clifton Santa Rita Hills Chardonnay

"The 2008 Chardonnay Santa Rita Hills has loads of lemon, honeysuckle, and citrus blossoms, yet for such a full-flavored Chardonnay, it is stunningly elegant, fresh, and crystalline. A light straw-colored, powerful wine (14.6% alcohol), it should be drunk over the next 3-5 years."

2008 Lucia Pinot Noir,
Santa Lucia Highlands

The 2008 Lucia Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands, is deep ruby in color. This SLH bottling displays bold aromatics of ripe strawberry, cherry, plum and spices of clove and sage. The focus of the wine is  pure and direct. The palate has a thick texture, brought into balance by a frame of soft tannin and nice acidity (a common trait to this vintage in the Highlands).

Melville "Estate"
Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2008

Parker Review:
The biggest production item at Melville is the 2008 Pinot Noir Estate (5,525 cases). Readers looking for a top-notch Pinot Noir at a realistic price should check this wine out. Terrific raspberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with some boysenberry and underbrush notes jump from the glass of this deep ruby/purple-tinged wine. Medium to full-bodied, it is seriously packed with silky tannins and good vibrancy and delineation. This is an impressive wine made for those loving more of the black raspberry/boysenberry character of Pinot.

2006 O'Shaughnessy
"Howell Mountain" Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

Good bright ruby-red. Aromas of crushed blueberry, menthol, licorice, cocoa powder, violet and sweet oak; shows a distinct mountain berry intensity on the nose and palate. Sweet, dense and chewy, with a youthfully medicinal character to the dark raspberry, dark chocolate and vanillin oak flavors. This impressively deep wine finishes with big but sweet tannins. Incidentally, winemaker Sean Capiaux prefers this estate's 2006s to its 2005s, describing them as "more typical of what we seek in California."

2008 Las Colinas Sonoma Coast Syrah
Las Colinas is a blend from our single-vineyard Cherry Camp and Timbervine Syrah sites. A stunning Indian summer in 2008 presented the opportunity for extended hang time and great aging potential.
This blend captures the essence of these two unique vineyards. Timbervine contributes the sauvage and tannin structure, while the Cherry Camp delivers the pure, sensual fruit core. Magenta in color
with inky black undertones, aroma of rich true with fruit inlay yet flintyy edged, full mouth with silky entry rounding to grainy tannins and explosive, lingering finish. 428 cases produced.

Shea Wine Cellars
"Shea Vineyard", Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2007

"The 2007 Pinot Noir Estate, a blend of 17 parcels and all of the clones grown on the property. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up a fragrant perfume of smoke, incense, earth notes, black cherry, and black raspberry. On the palate it is already exhibiting complexity with its amalgam of spice notes, succulence, black fruits, and depth. It will evolve for 2-3 years and provide prime drinking from 2011 to 2019."

Glaetzer
"Bishop", Barossa Valley Shiraz 2009

"A blend of fruit from 35 year-old vines & 120 year-old vines is the key to the Bishop cuvee. The fruit from younger vines is fresh & vibrant, whilst Shiraz from the oldest blocks in the Ebenezer vineyard give structure and enhance palate profile.

Wisps of cloves, nutmeg and five spice add definition to the layers of dark stone fruits and espresso. The palate has density yet also displays savoury, textural components and fine-grained ripe tannins.
A perfect food wine that is fresh and flavoursome and finishes with impressive length and depth."

 Massena "Moonlight Run"
 Barossa Valley GSM 2006

"...54% Grenache, 24% Shiraz, 16% Mourvedre, and 6% Cinsault sourced from vineyards ranging in age from 85-150 years with yields under one ton per acre. The wine was aged for 18 months in seasoned French oak. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up a superb aromatic array of balsam wood, earth notes, wild blueberry, and black cherry. Forward, easygoing and seamless on the palate, this silky-textured wine can be enjoyed over the next eight years."

Bastianich "Vespa Bianco"
Friuli Chard/Sauv/Picolit 2008

Vespa Bianco, is a 'super-white' blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon & Picolit. Half the wine is fermented in wood, half in stainless. It's a serious wine, showcasing all the power, complexity & drama attainable in the region, in the model of Jermann's Vintage Tunina or the best of Livio Feluga or Schioppetto. Remarkably, in every vintage including the first bottling in 1999, Slow Food/Gambero Rosso has awarded Vespa Bianco their top award of Tre Bicchieri.

La Spinetta "Campe", Barolo 2004

[95 points Wine Spectator] Slightly earthy, with mushroom and very ripe fruit. Almost pruny. Transforms to gorgeous fruit. Full-bodied, with spicy, meaty and super ripe fruit flavors. Chewy and tannic. Big and rich. Turns exotic. This is massive, with impressive structure.

2007 Vajra Barbera D'alba

90 Points - Antonio Galloni (The Wine Advocate)

"The 2007 Barbera d'Alba is a plummy, generous wine with terrific definition and focus in its aromas and flavors. There is a wonderful minerality that frames the long, delicate finish. Sweet raspberries, menthol, licorice and spices add complexity on the close. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2013."

Uccelliera, Brunello di Montalcino

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the unqualified successes of the vintage. Dark, vibrant fruit melds into graphite, spices, menthol and minerals as this mid-weight, elegant Brunello opens up in the glass. Deceptively medium in body, the 2005 Brunello packs quite a punch, with tons of super-ripe fruit that caresses the palate and balances the tannins beautifully through to the close. The warm radiance of Castelnuovo comes through in spades. This is another brilliant Brunello that benefits from the inclusion of fruit that usually goes into the Riserva. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022. " Wine Advocate # 188 92 points Wine Spectator "There's very pretty aromas of mulberry and flowers in this full-bodied red, with toasty oak, coffee and dark fruits on the palate and a chewy, tannic finish. Still tight and holding back. Best after 2012. 1,365 cases made.

Elaboration This wine is aged for 6 months in wooden vats, 18 months in new French oak barrels and at least 12 months in bottle. Tasting Black-cherry colour with dark garnet hues at the edge. Luca, Mendoza Malbec 2008

"The 2008 Malbec spent 12 months in 60% new French oak. It is a glass-staining opaque purple color with an enthralling perfume of sandalwood, Asian spices, lavender, black cherry, and plum. On the palate this concentrated effort admirably combines power and elegance. Smooth-textured, spicy, and rich, it will evolve for 2-3 years and offer prime drinking from 2011 to 2023. "

Bodegas Lan Rioja Edición Limitada (2002)
Review by: Thomas Matthews
Wine Spectator: Issue November 15, 2005
Rating: 95 points
Drink now - 2015

This rich red tastes like blackberry jam on toasted brioche. Thick on the palate, oozing with sweet fruit and oak, with muscular tannins that barely ripple the surface. Yet it remains fresh, with a clean, floral finish. Balanced and lively. Atypical for the region, extraordinary for the vintage. Shows the hallmarks of the international style, but is it authentic Rioja? Does it matter? Drink now through 2015. 1,500 cases made.    $55

2005 Piña Napa Valley
"D'Adamo Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa
this cabernet is rich and warm, fleshy and meaty, but it takes on elements of the exotic, with its hyper-spicy, macerated and roasted character and its component of smoldering potpourri. This delves deeply into minerality and earthiness; there’s a sense of excavation as one sips, ponders and swallows, while dense, grainy tannins stand like buttresses against a dark edifice. Another cabernet for the long term, say 2011 or ’13 through 2016 to ’20. Production was 1,147 cases. Excellent.

Slaughterhouse Cabernet Sauvignon  2005
For the 2005 Cabernet, winemaker Jason Fisher went with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 21 months in French oak. This is a Cabernet of superb balance and length, with a subtle blend of herbal, black olive and dark fruits. It has great texture and length, nicely integrated sweet tannins, 14.6% alcohol that is supportive
and well integrated, and a long impeccably balanced finish.

Brezza Barolo 2004 Cannubi/$67/Bottle

Brezza operate twelve and a half acres of the most splendid vineyards in Barolo, dating back to 1885. The estate and wineworks are strategically placed very close to the heart of Barolo itself.A bright, ruby colour. A lifted bouquet of cherries, liquorice and spice, balsamic, meats and herb. A ripe, fruit driven palate with bright varietal fruit, approachable in its youth and already showing good bottle development. "Initially more ethereal than the straight Barolo but then it blossoms on the palate with layers of perfume laced fruit, orange rind and sweet spices. The wine turns weightier in the glass, as dark cherries and plums add layers of complexity. The suave, silky tannins are pure Cannubi, but it is the wine’s multi faceted personality that places it among the vintage’s finest bottles!" -Wine Advocate.com, "An intense wine, with big fruit, good acidity, and ample soft tannin, quite forward and drinkable!" -Decanter.com  92 Spectator, 4 stars Decantor, 92 Tanzer.

2007 CG diArie Petite Sirah Estate Grown

$24/bottle

We harvested the grapes at the peak of ripeness to maximize the fruit character and minimize the harsh tannins and fermented the wine in our Dual Compartment Submerged Cap Fermentation Tanks that resulted in a highly concentrated wine with fruit forward and soft tannins. We then aged the wine in predominantly French oak barrels. During final blending 19% Estate Grown Syrah was added to add balance and elegance to the wine.

Inky dark purple in color the wine has an elegant nose that begins with blueberries and blackberries. Fruit gives way to cocoa, smoke, tar, and vanilla. On the palate notes of pencil shavings and black pepper integrate with the chewy, dusty tannins. The acidity in the long pleasant finish balances the tannins and ends with lingering dark cherry notes.

The 2008 Pinot Noir Estate Grown was aged in 43% new oak for 11 months. It gives up an expressive nose of spice box, incense, smoke, black cherry, and black raspberry.
