Walstrom's Catering

Walstrom's Catering, a family owned and operated company, was created in 2003 by Jody Lockwood and David Younger.

The Walstrom's name was derived from "Grandpa Bill" Walstrom who owned and operated the family candy store in Lakewood, Colorado may years ago. Like Grandpa Bill, Walstrom's Catering selects and produces all of its products with a philosophy of Quality First.

Jody Lockwood, a 35-year resident of the Grand Valley, has 20 years of experience in public relations and is Walstroms' Event Coordinator and Spokesperson. Jody lives in beautiful Palisade, Colorado and has been happily married to her husband, Clay, for 30 years. They have a daughter and a grandson, both of whom are on call and ready to lend a helping hand at events. Jody delights in decoration and design and has the gift of making any setting simply beautiful!

David Younger, Walstrom's Executive Chef, has been an avid culinarian since he was 15 years old. He has tenured in prestigious establishments such as The Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, Colorado, The Park Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina, and CR Gibbs in Redding, California, where he augmented and refined his skills as a Caterer. David attended Mesa State College where he received an Associates Degree in Applied Sciences and then earned his certification at the Executive Chef level from the American Culinary Federation.

David and Jody combine their passions and expertise to truly make every event extraordinary!

I've got a yen for Messicani Di Vitello!

One of my favorite restaurants in Downtown is Dolce Vita.  There is nothing better than having Rick  pair a glass of wine to your meal from their extensive selection.  I like to think of the food as Family Style Itallian and it is always a reat!  Don't be bashful, tell Rick a little about what you like and he will hook you up with a bottle sure to make the evening memorable! Curtis Photography

Mike Curtis is one of the more talented individuals living in our community.  Mike's day job is being the Engineer for the City of Grand Junction.  Upon first inspection Mike comes off as a mild mannered, technically oriented and brainy, civil servant. I can tell you for a fact that this is just a disguise because in reality he's Superman! I haven't met to many cyclists who have intimated that they are able to keep up with him.  Most of the time I just hear stories about how the ride was going great till Mike decided to kick it into a gear unknown to most of us mere mortals.  Having grown up in Montana he is also a fair hand at the winter sports and con be found skiing and doing the cross country thing all winter.  All of this make him extremely mobile and facilitates his other fascination as a Commercial Photographer.  A while back I offered some of our wall space as an exhibit to Mike and he graciously accepted.  So if you are looking for a gift that depicts the spectacular nature of where we live and play or something to decorate a wall at home or your office I highly recommend getting in touch with Mike.  He has a great portfolio of photos to choose from and can custom size many of his photo to fit the space.  Mike can be reached at 970 201 1355!

Moulin Rouge will open next week so if you are down stop in and check it out!  I stopped by the other day and peeked in the door!  John has done his homework and it is going to be another great addition scene in Junction!   If you haven't eaten at Rendez Vous you're missing out on one of our best restaurants!  John is a real pro and all of here at Crossroads Wine & Spirits wish him the best of luck in this new venture!

Inari's Palisade Bistro

Hey ave you been to Inari's yet....I haven't ...but my brother from another mother Paul Ortenzio and his lovely wife of 30 years Carol did some R&D for me while I am playing in the snow!  Paul and Carol know good food so you can take this as gospel.  The went on a Wednesday night which is date night at Inari's.  They have a special fixed price menu for 2 that includes 3 food courses and a carafe of vino!  The also have many different wines available by the glass as well as by the bottle!  They had Beef Ragout, steak and Cioppino!  The word is Hiro and Meg the owners along with Chef Aaron have opened one of the best restaurants in the valley! By the way Inari isn't Italian it is Japanese for the word FOX which means luck....ask the owners about it!

Summit Canyon Mountaineering is dedicated to helping people live the mountain lifestyle. The original idea when the business was founded in 1978 was to provide apparel and gear that would be suitable from canyons to summits. That idea has grown to encompass all of the activities we enjoy living here on the Western Slope of the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
