...god was having a very good day
when he created Ridgway!
Coming down route 1 from Colonna off of route 550 and through Loghill Mesa
is what I call the back way into Pleasant Valley and Ridgway. The Snuffels
range is inspiring to say the least and coming down off the escarpment
the view is to die for.
Eleni and I were lucky enough to live in Ridgway for 2 years prior to moving to Junction. It is one of our favorite places to kick back and we highly recommend it along with Ouray as a great place to visit and explore. This is in the valley of the millionaires and is my dream home!
George Kernan and his wife Eileen are artists who have been living in Ridgeway for quite some time. They recently headed off to visit the grand kids in San Francisco and left us the keys to their lovely home. The views are ...well a picture is worth a thousand words!
One of Georges recent endeavors ...I you like the style of this call me and I will give you their phone number. Unfortunately I didn't use the flash on my camera except for this photo so the pics of their art did not come out as I had planned.
We like to ride the county roads when we're in town and this is on Route 8 which borders Ralph Lauren's RRL Ranch. The road splits a little ways from here and if you have the legs and lungs for it the ride on up to the Blue Lakes Trail Head is awesome! Hiking to the Blue Lakes is a great experience and the time to do it is the end of June or the beginning of July when the wild flowers are at their peak!
On Monday we rode a loop that included most of the valley to the east of 550 on route 10 in what we call the Valley of the Millionaires. If you aint a millionaire you can't afford to buy a piece of property here hence the name.
British Columbia, Canada

A friend of mine, Ian Kesler from San Diego did a heli trip to Revelstoke
Canada a couple of weeks ago! Said he hadn't ridden powder in a couple
of years and then got 88,000 vertical feet all at once! Do you think
this was fun or what?

Slow Down It's Bike Season Again

Oh the misunderstood! give em more space tis the season slow down good idea
Hey it is that time of year again and everyone and their mother is out on the road or on the trails riding their bike again. I have been out for several short rides trying to make the adjustment back to the bike. I guess it is early in the season but I have had more incidents with aggressive drivers in a week than all of last year. One driver actually got behind me and literally pushed me through the stop sign on Tiara Dr. and onto S. Broadway where thank god there was a gap between cars coming in both directions. On Easter Sunday a group of cars that seemed to be traveling together were very aggressive passing us with oncoming traffic. I have to say these were some of the more uncomfortable moments I have had on a bike in the Grand Valley.

So here is a good plan for everyone (not to say that any of you do this but if you do see this and have your cell phone get the license tag and call the cops) and if you have kids that are driving age sit them down and go over this with them.
1. When you see a bike(s) ahead of you on the road slow down! There is no reason what so ever for not slowing down. Please remember you are driving a multi ton vehicle with hundreds of horsepower and the bike rider is merely flesh and bone encased in a ridiculous spandex suit riding a self propelled device. There are all sorts of things that can cause a bike rider to veer so be prepared!
2. When you pass give them a very wide berth so that there is no chance
of you even coming close to hitting them.
3. If there is oncoming traffic BACK WAY OFF AND WAIT TILL THE TRAFIC PASSES BEFORE YOU PASS BIKE RIDERS! Bikes have essentially the same rights as cars and you would not pass a car while there was oncoming traffic!
4. For god's sake don't scream at bike riders for simply being on the road. When you do it places new meaning to the term Ugly American!
The county should probably put out Bike Caution Sings to remind people to slow down around cyclists so I found a few for the purpose of this article. The first sign represents someone's idea of a jab at the President. Love him or hate him he is actually one of the more athletic men to sit in the office but fall down once on your bike and you are labeled for life by the press.
