Foxglove Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon are spectacular values. The Chard is styled like good Burgundy. While the Cabernet exhibits a sophisticated structure and intense dark fruit flavors. Both drink like bottes that would cost $20 or more!

Our Small Vineyards Import Order is in! Monty, John Lowey (former Lord and Master of Texas' largest and best known winery, Llano Estacado near Lubbock and who we are so lucky to have helping us during the weekend tastings) and I had the pleasure of attending a tasting a few months back where we got to preview some incredible wine from Italy. These are all spectacular values so whatever the price we have set at retail you can be sure that you will be drinking several quality levels better! Enjoy!
Antonio Sanguineti Vincero! 2006 $12.99
50% Vermentino, 30% Malvasia, 20% Chardonnay; 800 cases produced
Vincero! Mean simply, “I will triumph!” Crisp yet lush, Vincero! has a lime and mango nose with light minerality and a lively finish. A great accompaniment to Prosciutto.
Camerlengo Rapolla Aglianico del Vulture 2004 $49.99
100% Aglianico; 900 cases produced
Black licorice and deep cherry aromas. Spicy and rich with notes of white pepper, ripe plum and balsamic vinegar. Most definitely a wine that will age well. This was my favorite wine of the show. Old world weight, body and finish meet the bright fruit and velvety mouth-feel of new world wine.
Fattoria Bibbiani Poggio Vignoso Chianti 1.5L 2004 $16.99
75% Sangiovese, 25% Canaiolo; 2,800 cases produced
The “wine of the people”, we call this style of wine “stupid, cheap and good”. The perfect Chianti to serve guests and in-laws. Dusty cherry notes with bright cranberry.
Fattoria Bibbiani Treggiaia 2003 $10.99
80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Canaiolo; 1200 cases produced
A pure delight! Old school tobacco and game notes are the backbone to this light cherry and raspberry quaffer. Classic Tuscan red at an incredibly low price.
Forte Canto Rosato 2006 $10.99
100% Negroamaro; 700 cases produced
An ideal glass of rosé for those that miss red wines on a hot summer day! Strawberry bubble gum on the nose that follows through on the palate. A nice acidity that does not give in to the semi sweet red fruit flavors.
http://www.svimports.com/portfolio/techsheets/Storybook_ForteCantoRosato.pdf
Marchetti Late Harvest Verdicchio 2005 $14.99
100% Verdicchio; 280 cases produced
Although late harvest, this is not a sweet wine. Full-bodied with peach, apricot, pear and melon aromas. A touch of nectarine lingers with a light acidity on the finish.
Martorana Contrada Ragabo Nero D’Avola 2005 $10.99
100% Nero D’Avola; 4,166 cases produced
The best $10 Italian wine I’ve had in a year! Ripe plums, blueberry, almonds and a touch of sweet rhubarb. The fruit is balanced by just enough acidity to make it a superb food wine and the flavors just linger and linger…. For those who are looking for a wine that tastes like a $20 - $30 California Cab, look no further. Get this wine and get it while it lasts!
http://www.svimports.com/portfolio/techsheets/Storybook_MartoranaContradaRag.pdf
Perazzeta Sara Toscana Rosso IGT 2006 $26.99
100% Sangiovese; 280 cases produced
A powerhouse of big dried raspberry, black licorice and a touch of tobacco. Hints of cooking spices with a medium body. Rich and complex, light tannins and mild acidity, one great wine.
http://www.svimports.com/portfolio/techsheets/Storybook_PerazzetaRita.pdf
Tre Donne Barbera D’Asti, Donna Bruna 2003 $19.99
100% Barbera; 500 cases produced
Made from 50 year old vines. Share this with friends.. A treasure chest of ripe, exotic cherry with wild tart raspberry underlined by cedar and spice. Extremely smooth finish that will make this bottle the one that your friends will rave about for weeks after tasting it.
‘Mollydooker’
The Boxer Shiraz, Gigglepot Cabernet, The Maitre D' Cabernet, The Scooter Merlot, Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz and Two Left Feet Merlot! These highly acclaimed, highly allocated wines are a treat. This is the first time we have had enough to actually put them on the shelf! For special occasions, everyday elegance and for collectors a rare treat! For specifics feel free to ask for Jerry, Eleni or Monty!

2006 'The Boxer' Shiraz
This Shiraz is a knock out! The 2005 was an enormous hit, after receiving 95 points from Robert Parker and being selected by him as the "Best Value Wine in the World under $20".
The 2006 will knock you out again with exuberant fruit, incredible flavors and color, and great length. The fruit is sourced from our Shiraz vineyards in McLaren Vale, Padthaway & Langhorne Creek.
Excerpts from Reviews of the 2005 Boxer
The Boxer Shiraz exhibits a black/blue purple color, an incredible density of fruit, along with that tell tale purity, blackberries, white flowers, melted chocolate, sweet licorice and subtle wood. Full bodied, beautifully textured and layered, with an awesome finish it should drink well for 4-6+ years. 95 points. Robert Parker Jr Wine Advocate # 165
SMART BUY. Dark and dense. A big wine yet lively with nutmeg-and cinnamon scented blackberry, cherry and licorice flavors, balanced against firm but well integrated tannins. Needs some time to soften. Best from 2007 through 2014. 91 points. Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator Nov 15 2006
The 2005 Boxer was #68 in the Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2006

New in the store!!!!
CG Di Arie's Amador Zin
The style of wine is fully extracted with fruit forward, good balance, a complex mid-palate and a long lingering finish. This Zinfandel meets all the criteria of my style of wine. It is well balanced with deep color and typical varietal flavor and aroma. The black cherry flavors progress in the mid-palate to blackberry and plum and the bold finish of chocolate lingers pleasantly long after the wine is consumed.

Monty, Jerry & Eleni already knew this was a steal after all we sell more Chateau St. Jean than any store on the Western Slope!
Lively and refreshing Fume Blanc offers bright aromas of grapefruit, melon and lemongrass. The Semillon contributes a hint of sweet red apple that combines with the vibrant citrus, fig and spice characters found on the palate, creating a beautifully balanced wine with a long, lingering finish."

One of Jerry's favorite Shiraz'! ......is one of the great values in South Australian Shiraz. This super-intense, mouth-staining, and mouth-filling cuvee is all about gorgeously pure black fruits kissed with sweet oak presented in a full-bodied, beautiful, multi layered, textural, hedonistic style. Consume it over the next 3-4 years.

Big Hit In The Store
The Show is a Cabernet from the three thieves a.k.a. Charles Bieler, Joel Gott, and Roger Scommenga (a.k.a. Scommes). This is another one of their joint ventures with Trinchero Vineyards who have access to great fruit and the money to do the job right. You are not hallucinating there are three different labels but they all house the same great Cabernet Sauvignon!
Deep ruby with a purple tint, translucent. Aromas: Black cherry, blackcurrant, vanilla, sweet tobacco and hints of sage flowers. Spicy, moderately tart and medium-bodied, the mouth filling dried red to black fruit and spicy oak flavors lead to a bucking good finish!

Looking for a good Pinot under $20

Wallace Brook Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2005
Oregon Pinot Noir, the sort that hits all my flavor and texture "hot buttons", is usually a bit out of my everyday price range. It may be worth the price paid, but it usually takes on "special occasion only" status. However this overrun from Adelsheim has a bright ruby, translucent color. Aromas of intense cherry, strawberry, vanilla and chocolate and hints of earth. Light bodied and tart with fine tannins, the juicy red fruit flavors combine with citrus and light buttery oak spice and mineral notes, leading to a vibrant dry finish.

Another great patio slammer!
2005 Las Brisas
A super value, the 2005 Las Brisas (a tank-aged blend of 50% Verdejo and equal parts Sauvignon Blanc and Viura) reveals lovely aromas of grapefruit, orange zest, and other assorted citrus. This light-bodied, crisp, fruity 2005 will offer abundant pleasure over the next 9 – 12 months.” Robert Parker 87 points.

We carry an extensive selection of Sake in the store (these are a few of our favorites). Sake, often called the "Drink of the Gods" by the Japanese, is a beverage created from rice, water, koji, and yeast, usually with an alcohol content of 15%-16%, just slightly higher than that of an average red wine. These are meant to be consumed cold. Heating any of these lovelies up would be a mortal sin! Hot Sake is done with the cheapest and least artfully created Sake Cold Sake was the drink of the Samurai, it is sacred, much like better 100% Agave Tequila which I consider to be euphoric. It is the drink of choice for athletes looking for a buzz the night before an event because it is the purest, cleanest most easily consumed form of alcohol on the planet (no hang overs). Sake goes well with a lot of different foods, though it tends to get overpowered by very spicy or powerfully flavored foods (as would a fine wine). It DOES go well with sushi, raw oysters, cured fish, salmon/tuna tartare, grilled or broiled fish, fried fish or seafood. paella, mild curries, and many other dishes. It will even work with milder chicken or beef dishes (think light Italian)! As a rule of thumb, if you can drink fine white wine with a dish, then you can also drink premium chilled Japanese sake with it. Want to learn more go to this SAKI LINK!!!
If you live out of town and can't get into Junction the next best thing is to call us up the next time one of you friends is heading this way! A very popular bottle in the store!!!

Great with pizza, pasta, burgers and steaks! $13.99 |
A Mediterranean styled blend of Tempranillo, Dolcetto, Charbono, Carignane, Valdiquie, Alicante and Mouvedre. Deeply colored in the glass, with a rich and concentrated bouquet sporting big berry aromas with cocoa and spice nuances in the nose. A mélange of red and black fruits cascade within the mouth, awakening the senses with bursts of flavor. Rich and full in body; well structured, with ripe tannins and plenty of sexy appeal. Each lot was fermented separately and barrel aged for six months prior to blending, and is bottled unfined. |
One of the best values in the store!!!

Argiolas Costamolino
91 Points R. Parker $12.99
The delicate straw color of the 2005 Costamolino Vermentino di Sardegna is followed by beautiful aromas of almonds, oranges, lemon, honey, apple skins, and a hint of tropical fruits. This crisp, elegant, medium-bodied, intense white should be enjoyed over the next year." |
Some of our current picks!!!!
A great bottle of wine from New Zealand. A solid effort from an excellent vintage, the ripe-fruited '06 House of Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc stays closer to ripe core frut with a nice accent of grapefruit rind; smooth finish. I have seen this as high as $10.99 on the net but we are selling it for what most store buy it for

The Earthworks Shiraz is a Barossa Valley regional blend. The fruit is sourced from local growers with vineyards that range in age from 70, 50 and 35-years old as well as some younger hand-picked parcels. The fruit sourced is either from dry grown vineyards or minimally irrigated vines, all of which are low-yielding. A great bottle of wine @

Odfjell Vineyards produce the Orzada wines in Maipo Valley, Chile. ... produce the best possible wines in the vineyards, while maintaining their commitment to sustainable agriculture and "green" winemaking practices in a unique gravity flow winery... 2003 Orzada Cabernet Sauvignon is a perfect example of the distinctive wines that are made at this unique vineyard. It has lots of mocha and vanilla flavors, but plenty of blackberry and cassis fruit to back it up. It is long and ripe on the finish, where a cocoa powder note lingers. |

$16.99 a really nice bottle of wine from Spain!
 |
JUAN GIL MONASTRELL 2004 91 points
Red wine, twelve months in French barrels 100 % Monastrell
We selected the Monastrell grapes for this wine from 40-year old parcels in our estate vineyards. Here shallow, chalky soils on a bed of limestone and rock, combined with an arid climate, produce the low yields (1,8 ton per acre) required for wine of this complexity. After harvesting, the deep purple grapes are whole-cluster macerated “sur lie” for 25 days, and then pressed and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. It is a wine with rich colour, abundant ripe fruit flavours, and a long, spicy, well-balanced finish.
Better drink with roast and game, red grilled and barbecued meat, rice with game, etc. |

CASALFARNETO Fontevecchia
100% Verdicchio
Probably the best selling wine by the glass at downtown's famous eatery Dolce Vita. The Fontevecchia vineyard production is only about 3000 cases per year. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for 6 months before bottling, this wine has a rich, creamy texture and a dry, elegant finish that makes Verdicchio one of the more fuller flavored of all the Italian white wines. |
 |
With the first sip, this wine bursts of fresh, dark cherries, blueberries, and sweet cranberry notes. Its velvety mouth-feel is framed with rich vanilla French oak tones and finishes leaving you contemplating blueberries, caramel, and hints of cedar. $14.99
Serving Suggestions:
This Malbec is a striking companion to prime rib au jus, eggplant parmigiana, or a flatbread pizza topped in caramelized onions, prosciutto, goat cheese, and fresh herbs. |
Great Bottles of Wine!
Hermosa Vineyards
Great wine from the valley!
 |
Kenn Dunn really enjoys his life as a winemaker and vineyard owner is making some of the most popular wines in the valley. All of the Hermosa varietals sell well but his Syrah is by far the favorite among our customers. Believe it or not he picks barrels that have a cigar note in them to make this wine. In contrast to make his new desert wine (port) that he calls Rosso he looks for barrels that have a chocolate note to them. You can fine all the wines he produces in the store but if you would like to taste his wines first Dolce Vita has a good selection that they sell by the glass! |

Colorado Merlot …This is what winemakers are trying to achieve in a good merlot! Just enough backbone to balance with some of the best fruit produced in Colorado!
Colorado Claret …When the four tastes of sweet, sour, salty and bitter are in balance it is referred to as umami! Steve’s claret is exactly the style of wine that propelled Bordeaux too fame!

Colorado Gewurztraminer …For those of you who think Gewurtz is sweet & plain try this peach colored summer sipper! The wine sits on the skins long enough to develop some light citrus flavors in addition to the peach flavors you would expect! Super Value!
Merlot Ellie’s Reserve Reminds Monty of an
affordable Pomerol ...great depth and flavors that continues to evolve over several hours….easily mistaken for cult like wines at 3 times the price!
Pinot Noir …Emilia’s Reserve Think Oregon meets Carneros ...Fruit forward w/ just enough backbone that this is a serious wine ...Lt. Raspberry&, sour cherry & a hint of black currant ...The best example of Pinot Noir in Colorado thus far! |
